Woodforest National Bank is committed to giving back to the communities it serves. Employees of the bank make good on that commitment by volunteering their time, organizing fundraisers, and giving to charitable organizations.

In 2005, Woodforest formed the Woodforest Charitable Foundation as an extension to that long term commitment. Robert Marling, CEO of Woodforest National Bank and President of the Woodforest Charitable Foundation, said the organization was developed as a means for the bank to support local charitable organizations for years to come. The Foundation, he said, will compliment the charitable spirit of Woodforest National Bank.

The success of the Foundation counts on the support of the employees, board members, customers, community members, investors and all those who contribute to the bank's success. "We have always been a strong supporter of our community and giving back," he said. "The Foundation was created to continue doing the same good works Woodforest National Bank has done in contributing to worthy causes throughout our community for 25 years. By creating the Foundation we have a long-lasting vehicle that will outlast all of us and will continue to focus on the specific needs of our community.”

Evidence of the bank’s community commitment can be found in branches across the 17 states it serves. Employees can be found volunteering time at food banks, conducting fundraising events in branches, and participating in and sponsoring fundraisers in the community.

• 5th Annual Woodforest Supplier Charity Golf Tournament in Montgomery, Texas invites employees and Suppliers of the bank to participate in this annual fundraiser. In 2011, the tournament raised $205,000 for the Woodforest Charitable Foundation.
• Woodforest Charity Run is organized and conducted by Woodforest National Bank in Conroe, Texas. In 2011, 317 runners participated, raising over $17,000 for the Foundation.
• Team Woodforest – MS150 has participated in this 150 mile bike ride from Houston to Austin for the last five years to raise funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. In 2011, Team Woodforest raised $31,500.
• Walkers of Woodforest (WOW) raised over $24,000 in the 2011 Montgomery County, Texas March of Dimes – March for Babies Walk. Over 200 employees and family members participated in this event which was chaired by Michael Richmond, CFO for Woodforest National Bank, and his wife Vicki, Secretary/Treasurer of the Woodforest Charitable Foundation.
• Team Woodforest in Scranton, Pennsylvania participated in the Race for the Cure, raising funds for research, education and treatment of breast cancer. Woodforest National Bank was a proud sponsor of the 2011 ride.
• Team Woodforest in Columbia, South Carolina participated in the USMC Ultimate Challenge Mud Run, raising funds for injured marines and their families, as well as community outreach programs.
